After we deep clean your carpet or sofa, we can finish the job with a stain guard protector. It does not make fabric stain-proof, but it buys you time. Instead of soaking straight into the fibres, a spill sits on top for a few minutes, so you can blot it away before it leaves a mark.
We protected the left half of this carpet and left the right half untreated. Then we poured cola on both sides and blotted each one with kitchen roll. This is what happened.
A stain guard is an invisible protective layer that coats each fibre. It slows down liquids and dirt so they cannot sink into the carpet or fabric as quickly. Spills stay on the surface for longer, and everyday dirt is less likely to bond to the fibres, so more of it comes away when you vacuum.
We would rather be honest with you. Stain guard is not a waterproof coating, and it does not make anything completely stain-proof. You still need to blot spills as soon as you can. The protection also wears down gradually with foot traffic and use, so we recommend adding it again after your next deep clean.

Yes. We apply it to carpets and to fabric upholstery such as sofas, armchairs and dining chairs, straight after we have cleaned them.
We always apply it after a deep clean. Putting a protector on top of dirty fibres would seal the dirt in, so cleaning comes first.
The price depends on the size of the area. Just mention it when you ask for a quote and we will include it. Our minimum charge for a visit is £80, there is no deposit, and you pay after the job by cash or bank transfer.
