mattress cleaning and drying

In family homes around Wakefield, mattresses work hard: children’s beds with the occasional accident, parents’ mattresses with years of sweat marks, and guest beds that have been in storage. Washing the sheets keeps the surface tidy, but it does nothing for what has soaked into the layers beneath.

Our mattress cleaning starts with an inspection, so we know the fabric, the construction and the problems we are dealing with. We then pre-treat stains and odours, and deep clean with hot water extraction that rinses dirt, sweat residue and dust mite allergens out of the mattress. Odours are tackled with specialist neutralisation, so they are removed rather than covered up.

Children’s and single mattresses are among the jobs we do most often in Wakefield, and they are easy to add to a carpet or sofa clean on the same visit. Expect the mattress to be dry within 4–8 hours.

Mattress Stains and Odours We Treat in Wakefield

We choose the treatment to suit the stain and the fabric, for the safest possible result.

The most common problems we are asked to fix in Wakefield are children’s accidents and bedwetting, pet urine where dogs or cats share the bed, sweat and yellowing, and drinks spilled in bed. Each of these needs a different approach, which is why we inspect before choosing products.

Urine is the most important one to treat properly. If it is only cleaned on the surface, the smell comes back as soon as the mattress is warm. We use a dedicated urine-neutralising treatment and extraction to reach the layers underneath and remove the source.

We are always honest about results. Recent stains usually come out well; older marks, or stains that have already been scrubbed with household products, may lighten a lot without vanishing completely. Either way, the mattress will be cleaner, fresher and more hygienic, and you will know what to expect before we start.

What you can expect from our process

Mattress Cleaning Process in details

1. Inspection

Our friendly technician will arrive punctually, ready to assess your property’s specific risks and clearly explain the cleaning process. Before commencing work, we’ll offer advice and set clear expectations for the results. We pride ourselves on being adaptable and accommodating, so we encourage you to ask any questions you might have.

2. Vacuuming and Pre-spray Application

The first step in our cleaning process involves thoroughly vacuuming the entire mattress and applying a pre-spray to loosen dirt, allergens, and odours. If special treatments are required, we have over 80 different chemical solutions tailored to the specific type of soiling. Additionally, our arsenal of various techniques allows us to tackle stains that sometimes are classed as unremovable by other cleaners. This ensures the best possible results for your mattress. Drill brush or pad is used to massage solution into deeper parts of fabric.

3. Extraction of Dirt and Detergents

Hot water rinses through the mattress fabric, effectively extracting dirt and all chemical solutions, leaving your mattress as dry as possible. This process ensures the mattress is clean, sanitised and  correct pH level is maintained to prevent resoiling, making mattress safe for your family. Mattress will be dry within 4-8 hours, ready for you to enjoy. Special additives help maintain a microbiological level of cleanliness, and a fantastic fragrance restores the freshness of your bedroom.

4. Final Result

Finally, we will invite you to inspect your mattress to ensure you are completely satisfied with the final results. We can also show you the wastewater extracted from your mattress—a clear indicator of the thorough cleaning. Additionally, we’ll provide some maintenance tips to help keep your mattress clean for longer.

Frequently Asked Questions

To make your decision easier, we have compiled answers to some of the most frequently asked questions here.
How long does a mattress take to dry?
Typically same day depending on airflow, room temperature and how heavily soiled it was.
Will you remove all the stains from the mattress?
This is always our main goal, and it usually works out that way. However, sometimes stains are permanent due to damage to the fibres, often natural ones like viscose, cotton or wool. There are methods that work even on these kind of fibres, but we must remember that in some cases, the stain is irremovable. To determine this, a test must be performed. Without a test, we cannot confirm this with 100% certainty.
What should I prepare before your arrival?
First and foremost, we need access to water and electricity. If there is no power or water, we will not be able to perform the service. Vacuuming is not required, as we always do this as part of our service. This allows us to conduct a proper inspection and identify areas that need special attention. We usually recommend that clients remove small items, plants, and smaller pieces of furniture if possible, to make space in the nearby surrunding. All we ask is that you remove all your linens and clear a path through your doorway.
Do you dry mattress after cleaning?
As part of our standard cleaning service, we do not dry mattresses after cleaning. This is a premium option. It takes additional time, thereby increasing the cost of the service. Almost always, mattresses are able to dry naturally without any issues. Often, cleaners claim they dry mattress but only set up fans for a few minutes, which is more of a marketing tactic than actual drying. We use equipment for water damage restoration—powerful dryers and dehumidifiers. The dryers help with air circulation, while the dehumidifiers remove excess moisture, allowing us to control the microclimate of your room and ensure the optimal conditions for the fastest mattress drying. This service is priced individually.
