mattress cleaning and drying

Huddersfield has a large student population and plenty of rented houses, so a lot of mattresses here change owners or occupants every year. Landlords want them fresh for the next tenant, and tenants moving in want to know the bed they are sleeping on is actually clean. Families have the same concern with second-hand beds, guest mattresses and children’s beds.

We clean mattresses on site. After inspecting the fabric and construction, we pre-treat stains and odours, then use hot water extraction to rinse sweat residue, dirt and allergens out of the fibres. Where needed, specialist odour neutralisation removes the source of smells such as urine or mustiness. Memory-foam and hybrid mattresses are cleaned with tighter control of moisture.

Drying normally takes 4–8 hours. In cooler rooms we use air movers, so moisture is not left inside the filling.

Mattress Cleaning in Huddersfield – Fresh Beds in Damp Weather

In older stone houses around Huddersfield, Holmfirth and the Colne Valley, bedrooms can stay cool and slightly damp, which makes it easier for a mattress to develop a stale, musty smell.

We deep-clean the mattress, treat the odour at its source and use air movers to speed up drying, so moisture is not left inside the filling. We cover Lindley, Marsh, Almondbury, Golcar, Honley, Meltham and the surrounding villages.

Mattress Stains and Odours We Treat in Huddersfield

Treatment is matched to the problem and the fabric, so results are as good as they can safely be.

Alongside the usual sweat marks, yellowing and body-oil build-up, we are often asked in Huddersfield to deal with musty and damp smells. In cooler stone houses a mattress can absorb moisture from the air and start to smell stale, sometimes with small marks appearing on the surface. Cleaning, odour treatment and proper drying together make a real difference.

Urine – from children, pets or previous occupants – is treated with a dedicated neutralising product and extraction to reach the layers under the cover, not just the surface.

We are always clear about what is achievable. Fresh stains usually come out well, while long-standing marks, and staining caused by damp, may lighten considerably without disappearing completely. You will know the likely outcome before we start, and you will be left with a cleaner, fresher and more hygienic mattress.

What you can expect from our process

Mattress Cleaning Process in details

1. Inspection

Our friendly technician will arrive punctually, ready to assess your property’s specific risks and clearly explain the cleaning process. Before commencing work, we’ll offer advice and set clear expectations for the results. We pride ourselves on being adaptable and accommodating, so we encourage you to ask any questions you might have.

2. Vacuuming and Pre-spray Application

The first step in our cleaning process involves thoroughly vacuuming the entire mattress and applying a pre-spray to loosen dirt, allergens, and odours. If special treatments are required, we have over 80 different chemical solutions tailored to the specific type of soiling. Additionally, our arsenal of various techniques allows us to tackle stains that sometimes are classed as unremovable by other cleaners. This ensures the best possible results for your mattress. Drill brush or pad is used to massage solution into deeper parts of fabric.

3. Extraction of Dirt and Detergents

Hot water rinses through the mattress fabric, effectively extracting dirt and all chemical solutions, leaving your mattress as dry as possible. This process ensures the mattress is clean, sanitised and  correct pH level is maintained to prevent resoiling, making mattress safe for your family. Mattress will be dry within 4-8 hours, ready for you to enjoy. Special additives help maintain a microbiological level of cleanliness, and a fantastic fragrance restores the freshness of your bedroom.

4. Final Result

Finally, we will invite you to inspect your mattress to ensure you are completely satisfied with the final results. We can also show you the wastewater extracted from your mattress—a clear indicator of the thorough cleaning. Additionally, we’ll provide some maintenance tips to help keep your mattress clean for longer.

Frequently Asked Questions

To make your decision easier, we have compiled answers to some of the most frequently asked questions here.
How long does a mattress take to dry?
Typically 4–8 hours depending on airflow, room temperature and how heavily soiled it was.
Will you remove all the stains from the mattress?
This is always our main goal, and it usually works out that way. However, sometimes stains are permanent due to damage to the fibres, often natural ones like viscose, cotton or wool. There are methods that work even on these kind of fibres, but we must remember that in some cases, the stain is irremovable. To determine this, a test must be performed. Without a test, we cannot confirm this with 100% certainty.
What should I prepare before your arrival?
First and foremost, we need access to water and electricity. If there is no power or water, we will not be able to perform the service. Vacuuming is not required, as we always do this as part of our service. This allows us to conduct a proper inspection and identify areas that need special attention. We usually recommend that clients remove small items, plants, and smaller pieces of furniture if possible, to make space in the nearby surrunding. All we ask is that you remove all your linens and clear a path through your doorway.
Do you dry mattress after cleaning?
As part of our standard cleaning service, we do not dry mattresses after cleaning. This is a premium option. It takes additional time, thereby increasing the cost of the service. Almost always, mattresses are able to dry naturally without any issues. Often, cleaners claim they dry mattress but only set up fans for a few minutes, which is more of a marketing tactic than actual drying. We use equipment for water damage restoration—powerful dryers and dehumidifiers. The dryers help with air circulation, while the dehumidifiers remove excess moisture, allowing us to control the microclimate of your room and ensure the optimal conditions for the fastest mattress drying. This service is priced individually.
