mattress cleaning and drying

Most people in Leeds wash their bedding every week, yet the mattress underneath is rarely cleaned at all. Over the years it absorbs sweat, body oils, skin cells and dust, and becomes a home for dust mites. For anyone with asthma, eczema or hay fever, that build-up is often the reason a bedroom never feels quite fresh.

We clean mattresses in your home, so there is no need to take the bed apart or be without it for days. Each mattress is inspected first, then pre-treated for the specific stains and odours we find, and deep-cleaned with hot water extraction that rinses contamination out of the fibres rather than pushing it deeper. Where there is a smell, we add specialist odour neutralisation to deal with the source.

Children’s mattresses, guest-room beds that have been stored for years and mattresses you have just inherited with a new home are some of the most common jobs we do around Leeds. The mattress is usually dry within 4–8 hours, depending on the room and how heavily it was soiled.

Mattress Cleaning for Leeds Homes, Landlords and Student Lets

From family homes in Roundhay and Alwoodley to shared houses in Headingley, Hyde Park and Burley, mattresses in Leeds see a lot of use. We clean them on site, without taking the mattress away, and treat sweat marks, urine and the musty smell that builds up over the years.

Landlords and letting agents often book us between tenancies, when a mattress needs to be fresh and presentable for the next tenant. As we are based in Leeds, these jobs can usually be fitted in at short notice.

Mattress Stains and Odours We Treat in Leeds

The method is matched to the stain and the mattress fabric, so the result is as good as it can safely be.

The jobs we see most in Leeds are sweat marks and yellowing on the sleeping side, body-oil build-up around the pillow area, and mattresses that simply smell stale even with clean sheets. In family homes we also deal with children’s accidents, drink spills and make-up, and in rented properties with stains left by previous occupants.

Urine needs more than surface cleaning, because it soaks into the layers beneath the cover. We use a dedicated urine-neutralising treatment and extraction to remove it at the source, instead of perfuming over the smell.

We will always be honest about what to expect. Fresh marks usually come out well; stains that are years old, or that have been treated with household products, may fade a lot without disappearing completely. Either way, you end up with a cleaner, fresher and more hygienic mattress, and you will know the likely outcome before we start.

Before commencing work, we’ll offer advice and set clear expectations for the results. We pride ourselves on being adaptable and accommodating, so we encourage you to ask any questions you might have.

2. Vacuuming and Pre-spray Application

The first step in our cleaning process involves thoroughly vacuuming the entire mattress and applying a pre-spray to loosen dirt, allergens, and odours. If special treatments are required, we have over 80 different chemical solutions tailored to the specific type of soiling. Additionally, our arsenal of various techniques allows us to tackle stains that sometimes are classed as unremovable by other cleaners. This ensures the best possible results for your mattress. Drill brush or pad is used to massage solution into deeper parts of fabric.

3. Extraction of Dirt and Detergents

Hot water rinses through the mattress fabric, effectively extracting dirt and all chemical solutions, leaving your mattress as dry as possible. This process ensures the mattress is clean, sanitised and  correct pH level is maintained to prevent resoiling, making mattress safe for your family. Mattress will be dry within 4-8 hours, ready for you to enjoy. Special additives help maintain a microbiological level of cleanliness, and a fantastic fragrance restores the freshness of your bedroom.

4. Final Result

Finally, we will invite you to inspect your mattress to ensure you are completely satisfied with the final results. We can also show you the wastewater extracted from your mattress—a clear indicator of the thorough cleaning. Additionally, we’ll provide some maintenance tips to help keep your mattress clean for longer.

Frequently Asked Questions

To make your decision easier, we have compiled answers to some of the most frequently asked questions here.
How long does a mattress take to dry?
Typically 4–8 hours depending on airflow, room temperature and how heavily soiled it was.
Will you remove all the stains from the mattress?
This is always our main goal, and it usually works out that way. However, sometimes stains are permanent due to damage to the fibres, often natural ones like viscose, cotton or wool. There are methods that work even on these kind of fibres, but we must remember that in some cases, the stain is irremovable. To determine this, a test must be performed. Without a test, we cannot confirm this with 100% certainty.
What should I prepare before your arrival?
First and foremost, we need access to water and electricity. If there is no power or water, we will not be able to perform the service. Vacuuming is not required, as we always do this as part of our service. This allows us to conduct a proper inspection and identify areas that need special attention. We usually recommend that clients remove small items, plants, and smaller pieces of furniture if possible, to make space in the nearby surrunding. All we ask is that you remove all your linens and clear a path through your doorway.
Do you dry mattress after cleaning?
As part of our standard cleaning service, we do not dry mattresses after cleaning. This is a premium option. It takes additional time, thereby increasing the cost of the service. Almost always, mattresses are able to dry naturally without any issues. Often, cleaners claim they dry mattress but only set up fans for a few minutes, which is more of a marketing tactic than actual drying. We use equipment for water damage restoration—powerful dryers and dehumidifiers. The dryers help with air circulation, while the dehumidifiers remove excess moisture, allowing us to control the microclimate of your room and ensure the optimal conditions for the fastest mattress drying. This service is priced individually.
